Milford secure first win as Durban derby ends in stalemate

Milford secured their first top-flight victory with a 1-0 win over Siwelele at the Richards Bay Stadium. Menzi Chili scored the decisive goal in the 77th minute to break the deadlock.

Siwelele dominated the early stages of the match, recording 12 shots in the first half. However, only three of those attempts were on target, forcing Milford goalkeeper Siphamandla Hleza to make saves from Jason Clifford, Sphesihle Jeza, and Vincent Pule. While Milford held more of the ball, they struggled to create significant opportunities, leaving Siwelele goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko with little to do before the interval.

After the break, Siwelele introduced Tebogo Potsane for Jason Clifford to add creativity to their play. Milford eventually found success when Chili exploited gaps in the Siwelele defence to score the only goal of the game. Siwelele attempted to find an equaliser by bringing on Christian Saile and Neo Mokhachane, but Thabiso Seseane received a second yellow card with ten minutes remaining. The red card left the Bloemfontein side with ten men, preventing a late comeback.

At Chatsworth Stadium, Golden Arrows and Durban City played to a 0-0 draw in the KwaZulu-Natal derby. The match began late due to wet weather conditions. Durban City controlled much of the possession and created several chances, though only Tylo Sanger and Gaston Sirino managed to test goalkeeper Edward Maova.

Golden Arrows relied on counter-attacks for their limited offensive output, with Nhlanhla Zwane providing the only shot on target against Durban City keeper Fredrick Asare. The deteriorating pitch conditions in the second half made it difficult for either side to play fluid football, resulting in a goalless finish.
