Monnas beat Waterkloof 52-22 to claim 11th Noordvaal Cup title

Monument scored eight tries against Waterkloof to win 52-22 and secure an 11th Noordvaal Cup title on the schools season’s final weekend.

Monument defeated Waterkloof 52-22 to win the Noordvaal Cup, scoring eight tries in a dominant final. The victory delivered an 11th title in the competition for the school, known as Monnas.

Fullback Ray-Nathin Kolver was central to the result, crossing three times for Monument. Outside centre Blessing Monareng also made a major impact in attack and defence and was named Man of the Match.

Waterkloof had reached the decider after edging Garsfontein 27-26 in Tuesday’s semi-final. That narrow win set up a meeting with a Monument team that had finished the campaign strongly, but Waterkloof could not match the champions’ attacking output in the final.

The Noordvaal Cup was not the only title decided on the closing weekend. Zwartkop secured the Plate by beating Nelspruit 41-22, while Pietersburg took the Shield after a 53-24 win over Marais Viljoen.

In Cape Town, SACS finished with a 44-29 victory over Wynberg at Memorial A Field. Flyhalf Jake Dave controlled the second half by forcing Wynberg to launch attacks from difficult positions, while lock RJ Cunningham earned the match award after a high-work-rate defensive display.

Rondebosch beat Bishops 29-15 for a second victory over their arch-rivals in 2026. Brackenfell defeated Tygerberg 26-20, and Strand recorded a 31-7 win against Melkbosstrand in the Western Cape. Charlie Hofmeyr and Robertson finished 27-26.

Pearson beat Brandwag 31-20 in the Eastern Cape, while Daniel Pienaar held off Muir 17-13. Those results completed a final weekend in which Monument’s emphatic win stood out as the headline result and confirmed the school as Noordvaal Cup champions.
