Newcastle officials watch Amar Dedic in Europa League action

Dedic played the entire match and was noted for his attacking involvement, including a significant cross for Georgiy Sudakov in the first half and a header that struck the post after a save by Hearts goalkeeper Robin Reus.

The scouting mission comes amid ongoing transfer negotiations between the two clubs. While Benfica are seeking a fee of €35m (£30.3m), Newcastle United have been attempting to negotiate a lower price for the defender. Reports from Bosnia earlier this week suggested that an agreement has already been reached with the player.

Benfica manager Marco Silva addressed the transfer speculation following the match. When asked about reports that Dedic had reached an agreement with Newcastle, Silva declined to comment on media reports. He stated that his priority remains the interests of Benfica and that he makes decisions based on what is best for the club.

Silva also dismissed the idea that transfer rumors influence his team selection. He maintained that the transfer market has no impact on his tactical choices and that he will continue to select players based on his professional judgment until they officially leave the club. He added that interest from other clubs is a normal part of the transfer window and does not affect his focus.
