Niger Tornadoes conduct medical tests before NPFL 2026-27

Niger Tornadoes have put their players through electrocardiogram tests as they prepare for the 2026-27 Nigeria Professional Football League season. The checks form part of the medical clearance required before the campaign begins.

The ECG procedure records the electrical activity of the heart and was used to assess the cardiac health of the squad. It is intended to confirm that the players are medically prepared for the physical demands of professional football.

The Minna-based club, known as the Ikon Allah Boys, are continuing their pre-season work at the renovated Bako Kontagora Stadium. Their preparations will culminate in a home fixture against Enyimba on 30 August 2026.

The opening match comes after Niger Tornadoes finished 15th in the 2026 NPFL standings. They collected 48 points from 38 matches, with 13 wins, nine draws and 16 defeats, while scoring 37 goals and conceding 36.

Their final five league results included one win, three draws and one defeat. They beat Shooting Stars 1-0, drew 0-0 away to El Kanemi Warriors, shared a 2-2 result with Kwara United and lost 3-0 at Remo Stars before another goalless draw against Enugu Rangers.

The medical tests are therefore one part of the club’s preparations as it works towards the new campaign. Niger Tornadoes will begin at home against Enyimba, with the match scheduled for 30 August in Minna.
