
NPFL: Emmanuel Ugwu bids farewell to Bendel Insurance for Mosta FC
Defender Emmanuel Ugwu has left Bendel Insurance for Mosta FC after helping the Benin City club finish seventh in the 2026 NPFL standings.
Emmanuel Ugwu has left Bendel Insurance for a move to Mosta FC, with the defender saying goodbye to the Benin City club after its seventh-place finish in the 2026 NPFL. Bendel Insurance have 54 points from 38 matches, with 13 wins, 15 draws and 10 defeats.
Ugwu thanked the club’s supporters as he marked the end of his time with the team. His departure brings his spell in Benin City to a close as he begins a new stage of his career with Mosta FC.
The defender also reflected on the relationships he formed at Bendel Insurance. He credited his teammates for helping him settle in and singled out the captain’s consideration as part of the welcome he received at the club.
Ugwu said his connection with the city, the dressing room and the team had grown into something personal. He described Bendel Insurance as an experience that could not be fully captured in words, while making clear that he valued his time with the club.
His message also underlined his commitment during his stay. Ugwu said he had given his maximum effort in matches and training sessions, before turning his attention to the challenge ahead at Mosta FC.
Bendel Insurance finished the season with 43 goals scored and 38 conceded. Their recent run included a 3-3 draw with El Kanemi Warriors, a 1-1 draw against Remo Stars, a 2-1 defeat away to Enugu Rangers, and victories over Katsina United and Wikki Tourist.
The club’s next listed fixture is at home against Warri Wolves on August 30, 2026. Ugwu will not be part of Bendel Insurance’s plans for that match after completing his exit and moving on to Mosta FC.
