NPFL lifts suspension on Bendel Insurance coach Kennedy Boboye

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has lifted the suspension imposed on Bendel Insurance head coach Kennedy Boboye. The decision allows Boboye to return to his coaching duties before the start of the 2026-27 season.

In a letter signed on Wednesday by Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league confirmed it had reviewed a written apology submitted by the coach. The NPFL board also took into account Boboye's behavior during his period of sanction and his previous contributions to Nigerian football as both a player and a technical staff member for the national team.

As a result of this review, the board has chosen to cancel the remainder of his disciplinary period. However, the NPFL issued a warning that if Boboye repeats the same misconduct next season, he will be required to serve the remaining portion of the original sanction.

The disciplinary action followed an incident involving gross misconduct toward a match official. This occurred after Bendel Insurance played to a 2-2 draw against Plateau United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Boboye's initial punishment included a fine and a suspension that was set to last for 17 matches.
