Nwaiwu addresses Premier League links after Trabzonspor's 2-1 win

Chibuike Nwaiwu has played down speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League after helping Trabzonspor beat Basaksehir 2-1 at the weekend. The Nigeria defender was on the pitch for the whole match as his Turkish club secured the victory.

Nwaiwu acknowledged that he had seen the transfer reports but said his attention remained on his performances and matches. He added that he is under contract with Trabzonspor, leaving any decision about his future to the club.

The former Enyimba player has been strongly associated with Fulham. Interest from the Premier League club has not produced a transfer, with Trabzonspor seeking an increased fee before considering his departure.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor in January after moving from Austria. His performances for the Turkish side have since earned recognition, including his first appearance for the Super Eagles in March.

His latest outing came as Trabzonspor recorded a 2-1 success over Basaksehir, with Nwaiwu completing the match in defence. The result adds to the impression created by his form since arriving at the club.

For now, Nwaiwu's position is that his immediate priority is football with Trabzonspor rather than the speculation around Fulham or another Premier League destination. Any transfer decision remains with the Turkish club while his contract is still in place.
