Olumide Oyedeji camp targets 500 players for 25th edition in 2026

The Olumide Oyedeji Basketball Camp is set to host more than 500 young players when its 25th edition takes place from 31 August to 5 September 2026. The six-day programme will be held at the Indoor Sports Hall.

The camp was established by Olumide Oyedeji, a former Nigeria international and NBA player. It has given young basketball players opportunities to train with experienced coaches while developing their abilities both on and off the court.

This year’s programme will combine intensive basketball sessions with mentoring. Participants will work on technical skills, teamwork and their understanding of the game during the camp.

Coaching clinics will also form part of the schedule, giving the young players access to experienced figures from the basketball community. The mentoring activities are intended to support their development beyond the practical aspects of playing basketball.

The camp is recognised as Nigeria’s longest-running basketball development programme. Its 25th edition continues Oyedeji’s work to strengthen grassroots basketball and create opportunities for emerging talent across the country.

Oyedeji, who serves as the Nigeria Olympic Committee’s third vice-president, remains committed to using basketball as a means of empowering young people and supporting the sport’s development in Nigeria. The President of the Nigeria Olympians Association has also promised an exciting programme as the camp reaches its 25-year milestone.
