Sterling International Pairs qualifiers finish before 2026 final
Zimbabwe’s 34-event Sterling International Pairs qualifying campaign is over, with the National Final set for Country Club in Harare on Saturday.
The 34 qualifying events for the 2026 Sterling International Pairs Golf Tournament have been completed, moving the competition to its National Final. The last qualifiers were held on August 8 at Bulawayo Golf Club, Royal Harare Golf Club and Police Golf Club.
The series brought golfers from clubs and regions across Zimbabwe into contention for places at the national event. The qualifiers will now be represented at Country Club in Harare on Saturday, where the leading pairs will compete for the national title.
The winning pair at the National Final will earn the right to represent Zimbabwe at the International Pairs World Finals in Tenerife, Spain. That gives the Harare event significance beyond the domestic competition, with the national champions progressing to an international field of qualifiers.
Among those taking part will be Matabeleland Ladies Golf president Sakhile Ndiweni and her partner, Hla Mbeji. They booked their place through the qualifying competition at Harry Allen Golf Club in Bulawayo.
Former Sables player Japhet Ndebele will also compete, partnering Clarence Sibanda. His presence, alongside Ndiweni’s participation, reflects the tournament’s reach across different parts of Zimbabwe’s sporting community.
The 2026 edition is being staged in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority under the theme “Experience the Beauty of Zimbabwe, One Fairway at a Time.” The partnership links the national golf competition with an effort to promote Zimbabwe’s tourism destinations and hospitality, while the successful pair prepares to take that representation to Tenerife.
