Police Bullets beat Simba Queens 2-1 in CAF Women’s Champions League 2026

Kenya Police Bullets began their CAF Women’s Champions League 2026 CECAFA Regional Qualifiers campaign with a 2-1 victory over Simba Queens in Kigali on Monday, August 24. The result at Pele Stadium moved the Kenyan champions to the top of Group C and left them in position to pursue a semi-final place.

Faith Mboya put Police ahead in the 17th minute after the visitors had started with greater attacking purpose. Simba struggled to find an equaliser before half-time, allowing the Kenyan side to take a narrow lead into the interval.

Simba levelled in the 69th minute, although the Police technical bench protested that the move had begun from an offside position. The goal was allowed to stand, bringing the match to 1-1 with 20 minutes remaining.

Police regained the advantage in the 80th minute when confusion between the Simba goalkeeper and her defence opened space for Martha Amunyolet. Seeing the goalkeeper away from her line, the former Vihiga Queens attacker struck from distance to restore the Kenyan side’s lead.

Simba pushed for a second equaliser during four minutes of added time and came close from a corner. A Police defender cleared the ball off the line, preserving the 2-1 win.

Police and Simba both have three points in Group C, but Police have a game in hand because Simba have completed their group fixtures. Police will face Burundi’s Top Girls Academy on Wednesday, August 26, with victory enough to secure top spot and a semi-final berth.

The defeat came despite Simba’s strong start to the 2026 Ligi Kuu Bara season. They are first after three matches with nine points, three wins and a 6-2 goal record. Their recent results also include wins over Kagera Sugar, Singida Fountain Gate and KMC, alongside goalless draws against Jamus and Mogadishu City.
