PREM Rugby 2026-27 ticket prices put English fan costs in focus
Bath seats reaching £109 have renewed debate over the cost of attending PREM Rugby, with major price differences across the ten-team league.
Ticket prices for the 2026-27 PREM Rugby season have placed the cost of watching English club rugby in the spotlight, with Bath Rugby at the top end of the market. Some of the best seats at The Rec are priced as high as £109, while selected uncovered seats cost £79.
Bath has linked its pricing structure to strong demand and the wider matchday experience. The club is also working towards a redevelopment of The Rec estimated at about £70 million, with the improved ground scheduled to be ready for the 2028-29 season. That investment is still several seasons away, however, leaving supporters to pay premium prices before the work is complete.
Bath is not the only club with expensive premium options. The most costly seats at Exeter Chiefs, Harlequins and Saracens can also come close to the £90-£100 range. At the other end of the scale, Sale Sharks, Leicester Tigers and Newcastle Red Bulls offer lower-priced choices, while champions Northampton Saints have a particularly wide spread of ticket prices.
The differences mean that the cost of attending a match depends heavily on the club and the location. A ticket is only part of the expense for many supporters, with travel, food and drinks adding to the bill. That could make occasional visits, including family trips or short-notice attendance, harder to manage as clubs try to attract audiences beyond their most committed season-ticket holders.
The league’s ten-team format also increases the commercial importance of each home fixture. PREM Rugby clubs have fewer regular-season matches from which to earn money through tickets, hospitality, food and drink than teams in larger competitions. France’s Top 14, for example, has 14 clubs and provides more league fixtures, while some of its teams also operate with different stadium ownership and funding arrangements.
The 2026-27 campaign starts on Friday, September 25, when Northampton Saints host Newcastle Red Bulls. Northampton will begin the season as defending champions, but supporters are already weighing the financial cost of following the competition before the first match is played.
