Rangers in talks to re-sign Jayden Meghoma on loan from Brentford

Rangers are currently in active discussions with Brentford to secure a second consecutive loan move for 20-year-old left-back Jayden Meghoma. If the two clubs reach an agreement on the terms, the England Under-20 international could be available for selection as early as Sunday's League Cup fixture against St Mirren.

The move comes as a response to a sudden groin injury sustained by first-choice left-back Tuur Rommens. This injury has highlighted a lack of depth in the Rangers defensive line, prompting the club to seek an immediate solution to cover the position.

Meghoma is already familiar with the environment at Ibrox after spending the entire previous season on loan with the club. During that campaign, he made 44 appearances in all competitions, which included eight matches in the UEFA Europa League. His statistical output during his European outings included one goal, six assists, and a passing completion rate of 87%.

By pursuing a loan rather than a permanent transfer or exploring other options like James Penrice, Rangers aim to avoid the lengthy negotiation periods often required for overseas signings. The club is also reportedly considering permanent arrangements with AEK Athens, but the Meghoma deal offers a faster resolution to their current squad shortage.

For Brentford, the deal allows a young player to continue receiving regular senior football under a manager experienced in his development. For Rangers, the return of a player who understands the dressing room culture and the intensity of the club provides a ready-made option during a busy August period.
