Rines SS beat Ziba 1-0 to start FEASSA Games on winning note

Ugandan women's football champions Rines Secondary School secured a 1-0 win against Tanzania's Ziba on Friday, 14th August. Trinah Nakawuki scored the decisive goal at the Jamuhuri stadium, finding the net less than 50 seconds after the match began.

Ziba attempted to limit the damage through a defensive effort led by goalkeeper Hamis Rahma Abdallah and captain Hawa Haji Ramadhan. While Rines SS controlled much of the play, players Justine Ayerango, Halima Mupyanga, Jovia Nakirya, and Zuena Nandego were unable to add further goals to the scoreline.

In other women's football action, Nyakach Girls of Kenya and Uganda's Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) played to a 1-1 draw. In Pool B, Amus College School also recorded a 1-0 victory over Boni Consili Vocational and Secondary School. Kasifa Kataike scored the lone goal for Amus College School during their morning fixture at the Jamhuri stadium in Morogoro.

Upcoming fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 15th August, include JIPRA facing Fountain Gate at 11 am at the Ujenzi stadium. Rines SS will meet Nyakach Girls at the same venue at 3 pm, while Amus College School takes on St Joseph’s Kitale at 9 am.

The 2026 FEASSA Games feature secondary schools, primary schools, and institutions for children with special needs. Competition is ongoing across various disciplines including rugby, netball, volleyball, hockey, athletics, swimming, cricket, baseball, softball, tennis, scrabble, and chess. The official opening ceremony for the tournament is set for Sunday, 16th August, at the Jamhuri stadium.
