Sha’Carri Richardson takes third in Silesia Diamond League 100m

Sha’Carri Richardson finished third in the women’s 100 metres at the Silesia Diamond League after clocking 10.96 seconds. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won in 10.78, matching her season’s best, while Olympic champion Julien Alfred took second in 10.83.

Richardson shared her time with Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston, but a photo finish placed the American ahead of her. Poland’s Ewa Swoboda completed the top five in 11.00 seconds.

The result did not match Richardson’s ambitions, but she maintained a positive view of the performance. She described the race as her poorest 100m of the season while accepting the third-place finish and expressing gratitude for staying healthy.

Richardson arrived in Silesia as the reigning 2023 world 100m champion and one of the leading sprinters of the 2026 season. Her campaign began with victory as the anchor of a 4x100m relay team at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, where the quartet ran 41.70 seconds.

She then recorded fourth-place finishes in the 200m at Diamond League meetings in Shaoxing and Xiamen, running 22.42 and 22.38 seconds respectively. Returning to the 100m produced stronger results, with wins at the USATF LA Grand Prix in 10.99 and the Star Athletics Sprint Series in 10.77.

Richardson also finished second at the Prefontaine Classic in 10.79 before claiming the US outdoor 100m title at Icahn Stadium in New York. She won the national final in 10.77 seconds after progressing through the preliminary rounds, making the Silesia third place another podium result in an otherwise strong season.
