Shooting Stars chairman Taiwo Salami backs squad for new season

Shooting Stars chairman Taiwo Salami has expressed confidence in the club's recent recruitment ahead of the 2026-27 season. He believes the current squad is significantly stronger than the one that competed in the previous campaign.

Speaking during a radio programme in Ibadan, Salami stated that he is satisfied with the level of player acquisitions made so far. While he did not claim the recruitment process was entirely complete, he rated the progress at 90 percent. He noted that the club is still waiting to finalize more new signings before the start of the upcoming season.

The chairman emphasized that the Oluyole Warriors are being intentional with their transfer window activities. He confirmed that the club is hopeful of adding two or three more players to the roster to reach full capacity. This targeted approach is intended to ensure the team is prepared for the challenges ahead.

This improved squad will be tasked with a demanding schedule across multiple competitions. Shooting Stars are set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside their domestic duties in the NPFL. The chairman's comments suggest the club is building a roster capable of handling both continental and local football.

The club's opening fixture of the upcoming campaign will take place in Ibadan. They are scheduled to face newly promoted side Inter Lagos to start their league season. The chairman's optimism comes as the team prepares for this initial test against the promoted outfit.
