Sundowns Ladies sign Banyana goalkeeper Palesa Moletsane for title defence
Hollywoodbets Super League champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have added Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Palesa Moletsane ahead of their next campaign.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have signed Banyana Banyana goalkeeper Palesa Moletsane as they prepare to defend their Hollywoodbets Super League title. The 31-year-old joins from the University of Fort Hare and was unveiled by Sundowns on Wednesday.
Moletsane was one of the leading goalkeepers in the league last season, finishing second with 13 clean sheets. She ended the campaign six shutouts behind TS Galaxy Queens goalkeeper Dineo Magagula, who topped that category.
Her contribution helped Fort Hare secure fourth place, the university side’s highest finish in South Africa’s top women’s division. Moletsane has since left the club while it sits fifth in the Super Rise Division, having recorded two clean sheets in five matches.
The move returns Moletsane to a title-winning environment after her previous spell with Royal AM. At Sundowns, she will compete for a place with established Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini and Botswana international Sedilame Bosija.
Moletsane was also part of the South Africa squad that reached the quarter-finals of the recently completed Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Her arrival adds another international-level option to a Sundowns squad preparing for an important regional assignment.
Sundowns are due to begin their COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign in Gaborone from 20 to 29 August. Their group fixtures will be against Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs, Malawi’s Silver Strikers and Costa Do Sol of Mozambique.
