Ghana Division One League Super Cup finals remembered, 2021-2026
Five Division One League Super Cup finals from 2021 to 2026 produced three penalty shootout wins and two one-goal victories in a run of tight contests.
The 2021 Division One League Super Cup final ended 1-1 before Skyy FC beat Tema Youth 7-6 on penalties. The following year, Liberty Professionals defeated Nsoatreman FC 1-0 in the final at the Kyebi AstroTurf.
Skyy FC and Tema Youth met at the Madina AstroTurf in 2021, with Ebenezer Mamatah putting Skyy FC on the scoresheet and Emmanuel Owusu replying for Tema Youth. Neither side found a winner in regulation time, but Skyy FC took the shootout by a single kick to begin the sequence of closely decided finals.
Liberty Professionals secured the 2022 title through Seedorf Asante’s goal against Nsoatreman FC. The match at the Kyebi AstroTurf produced the only one-goal margin in that edition, with Liberty Professionals holding on for a 1-0 success.
Bofoakwa Tano recorded the same score in the 2023 final, beating Skyy FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. Saaka Dauda scored the goal that separated the teams and gave Bofoakwa Tano the play-off final victory.
The 2024 final returned to a shootout after Vision FC and Okwawu United finished 0-0 at Nana Kronamansah Park in Nsoatre. Vision FC eventually prevailed 7-6 on penalties, matching Skyy FC’s narrow success from three years earlier.
The latest final in the sequence, played in 2026 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, also went beyond regulation time. Ebusua Dwarfs and Semper Fi drew 1-1 before Ebusua Dwarfs won the shootout 5-4.
Across the five recorded finals, three were decided from the penalty spot and the other two by a single goal. The results underline the narrow margins that have marked the Division One League Super Cup finals, with Skyy FC, Liberty Professionals, Bofoakwa Tano, Vision FC and Ebusua Dwarfs each claiming one of the recorded titles.
