Tottenham view Algerian Amine Gouiri as threat to Napoli plans

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a potential obstacle to Napoli’s interest in Marseille forward Amine Gouiri. The 26-year-old Algerian is highly regarded by manager Roberto De Zerbi’s side, putting pressure on Napoli as they assess options for their attack.

Napoli are looking at Gouiri after a move for Gabriel Jesus became difficult to arrange. Sporting director Giovanni Manna has included the Marseille forward on his shortlist, but Tottenham’s interest could make any approach more complicated.

Gouiri has built a reputation as a dependable scorer in Ligue 1 over the past six years. He has also made an immediate start to the current league campaign, scoring twice in his only appearance so far.

Tottenham’s need for another attacker has been highlighted by their 3-0 defeat to Brentford. The club are also linked with Cody Gakpo, while the expected arrivals of Savinho and Omar Marmoush would already add further attacking options to De Zerbi’s squad.

That recruitment picture could determine whether Gouiri becomes a serious Tottenham target. If Gakpo joins after Savinho and Marmoush, Spurs may have less reason to pursue another forward immediately. Gouiri’s age and Ligue 1 record, however, mean he could remain an option for a later move.

Napoli are also considering Chelsea forward Marc Guiu, who is viewed as a target capable of fitting into the existing squad structure. Chelsea value the Spaniard at €15 million, and Napoli have yet to decide whether to make a formal offer.

For now, Gouiri remains one of Napoli’s possible alternatives while Tottenham are positioned as a rival interested club. The Algerian’s form and standing at Marseille have placed him on the recruitment lists of both sides, even as their wider attacking plans continue to develop.
