Ferdinand backs Arteta after Arsenal’s 3-0 Premier League start
Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta can win consecutive Premier League titles after a 3-0 opening victory over Coventry.
Arsenal began their Premier League title defence with a 3-0 victory over Coventry last Friday. The result has strengthened former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand’s belief that Mikel Arteta can lead the club to another championship.
Ferdinand has identified Arteta as a manager capable of winning consecutive Premier League titles. He believes the Arsenal coach now has a level of experience that separates him from the other managers competing for the championship this season.
The former England defender made the prediction while speaking on his YouTube channel. His view is based on Arteta having already learned how to win the league, as well as the experience he has gained during Arsenal’s recent title campaigns.
Arsenal’s 3-0 opening win provides an early positive result in their defence of the title. It also gives Arteta’s side a strong start before their second league fixture, an away trip to Aston Villa next Monday.
Ferdinand also expects Arsenal’s success to extend beyond the current title race. He believes the club could enter a period of sustained control in English football, with Arteta at the centre of that possible run.
Winning consecutive Premier League titles would place Arteta among a limited group of managers to have achieved the feat. Ferdinand’s prediction therefore goes beyond Arsenal retaining the championship, pointing instead to the possibility of the club establishing itself as the leading force in the coming years.
For now, Arsenal’s campaign has started with the 3-0 victory over Coventry, while Aston Villa represents their next test. Arteta’s side will travel for that match on Monday as they continue their title defence.
