Zaidu Sanusi set for Al-Qadsiah switch from FC Porto this summer

Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi is in talks to leave FC Porto for Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah this summer, with Porto valuing the left-back at €10 million.

Al-Qadsiah have opened discussions with Porto over a possible transfer for the 29-year-old Nigerian. The Saudi club are pushing to secure Sanusi, while Porto are prepared to sell rather than risk losing him without a fee when his contract expires.

Sanusi has one year remaining on his current Porto deal. Negotiations over a new two-year contract have stalled after the player and club failed to reach an agreement on salary, increasing the possibility of a move before the end of the summer window.

The defender joined Porto from Santa Clara in August 2020 and has since become an established member of the squad. He has also been described as a key player for the Portuguese club during his time there.

Sanusi has collected eight domestic honours since moving to Porto. His possible departure would bring an end to a four-year spell in Portugal, with Al-Qadsiah now emerging as the club most strongly linked with his next move.

The Nigeria international has previously attracted interest from Serie A side Atalanta and English club Leeds United. Neither of those links has led to a transfer, while Al-Qadsiah’s discussions with Porto have now placed the Saudi club at the centre of his immediate future.
