Ademola Lookman assigned number 11 shirt at Atletico Madrid

Ademola Lookman will wear the number 11 shirt for Atletico Madrid during the 2026/27 campaign. The Nigerian winger moves away from the number 22 jersey he used during his initial period with the club.

Lookman arrived at the LaLiga side from Atalanta in January. He spent his first six months at the club wearing the number 22. The 28-year-old attacker is familiar with the new number, having previously used the number 11 during his time in Italy.

The shirt was formerly occupied by Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada. Almada has since departed Atletico Madrid to join River Plate, leaving the number 11 vacant for the Super Eagles international.

Lookman's transition to the new number follows a productive period for the forward. In his first half-season with the former Spanish champions, he recorded nine goals and four assists. These contributions came across 24 total appearances in all competitions.

This change in squad numbering marks a new phase for the winger as he enters his second full season with the club. Having established himself in the squad since his move from Serie A, the change reflects his growing role within the team structure.
