Ajibade reacts to Super Falcons exit from WAFCON 2026

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed disappointment following Nigeria's exit from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The ten-time African champions were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to Cameroon.

The defeat to the Indomitable Lionesses also confirmed that Justine Madugu’s side will not participate in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Nigeria's path to the inter-confederation playoffs was blocked by a 2-1 loss to South Africa's Banyana Banyana.

Ajibade noted that the landscape of women's football in Africa is evolving rapidly. She emphasized the necessity for the Super Falcons to improve their preparation for future international competitions.

Reflecting on the recent matches, the captain stated that the team must avoid complacency due to the increasing intensity of the competition. She remarked that the squad is no longer invincible and must demand higher standards from both individual players and the collective unit.
