Alamu Oladiran seeks sponsors to revive Anularigba Boxing Championship

Lagos-based professional boxer Alamu Oladiran, popularly known as Destiny Omo Ologo, is seeking corporate sponsorship to relaunch the Anularigba Boxing Championship. The talent hunt competition has been inactive for the past four years following a lack of funding.

Oladiran revealed his intention to revive the event during an appearance on the weekly television programme Inside Naija Sports on NTA News24. He stated that if he secures financial support, he is prepared to resume the boxing competition immediately.

The championship, previously known as Anularigba Boxing Production, was funded by Oladiran himself for seven years. During that period, he used his own resources to provide equipment such as gloves and a boxing ring, as well as prize money for winners. He noted that he was the first individual to introduce a boxing ring to the Ifako Ijaye local government area.

Oladiran's journey in the sport began at the age of 12 while he was a student at Fagba Grammar School. Despite initial opposition from his father, who feared the sport would lead him toward a life of hooliganism, Oladiran persisted in his training to pursue a professional career.

While the boxer previously received support from individuals such as Sulaiman Kokoro and a friend known as K-Body, the project was halted in 2022 due to financial constraints. He expressed that his primary motivation for the championship is to encourage young talents to follow his path in the sport.
