Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in WAFU B WCLQ 2026

Ampem Darkoa Ladies opened their 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over ASEC Mimosas.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies began their 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory over defending champions ASEC Mimosas. Gloria Adomako scored the only goal in the 29th minute to give the Ghanaian side all three points in their Group B opener.

ASEC had an early opportunity to take control when they were awarded a penalty in the sixth minute, but the effort was not on target. Rose Baah then kept Ampem Darkoa level with a save as the Ivorian club pushed for the opening goal.

Ampem Darkoa also threatened before breaking the deadlock. Zakaria Ajegipina and Nancy Amoh both failed to beat the ASEC goalkeeper, but Adomako made the breakthrough when she headed in during the first half.

The Ghanaian champions had a chance to extend their lead after the interval. Loanee Milot Pokuaa struck the upright from close range, leaving ASEC within reach of an equaliser.

Baah produced further saves in the latter stages to protect Ampem Darkoa’s advantage. The result marked a strong opening for the Techiman-based club against an ASEC team that entered the qualifying competition as its defending champion.

ASEC had finished top of the 2025 Ivory Coast Ligue 1 with 62 points from 30 matches, recording 19 wins, five draws and six defeats while scoring 50 goals and conceding 21. Their recent league sequence before this match was two wins, one draw and two losses, including defeats by Olympique Sport d'Abobo and Bouaké.

Ampem Darkoa will face AS Garde Nationale of Niger in their next match on Thursday, August 27. ASEC’s next listed fixture is against Kara in the CAF Champions League on September 5, 2026.
