Amus College, Kyadondo SS and Kitende win on FEASSA Games 2026 opening

Amus College School, Kyadondo S.S, and St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende all secured victories during the opening day of the 2026 FEASSA Games. The boys' football competition began on Friday, 14th August 2026, in Morogoro, Tanzania, with five matches played across various venues.

Amus College School defeated Mbeya Day 1-0 at the Highlands sports facility, thanks to a goal from Ijosiga Mudashir. At Jamuhuri, Kyadondo S.S overcame Kenya's Kakamega High School with a 2-1 scoreline. St Mary’s Kitende also recorded a 1-0 win, with Laurian Lwesibawa scoring the decisive goal against St Mary’s Yala.

Defending boys' football champions Bukedea Comprehensive School were held to a 2-2 draw by Tanzania's Urambo Day. Bukedea Comprehensive School failed to hold their advantage during the match, which ended in a stalemate.

The 23rd edition of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association championship features over 5,000 participants from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi. While football is a key discipline, the event includes more than 20 sports such as rugby, netball, athletics, swimming, and cricket. The competition involves secondary schools, primary schools, and institutions for children with special needs.

Group stage football matches are scheduled to continue on Saturday, 15th August 2026. The official opening ceremony for the tournament will take place on Sunday, 16th August 2026, involving government representatives from Tanzania and officials from the participating nations.
