Amy Hunt wins 200m to complete European sprint double

Amy Hunt secured the 200m gold medal at the Alexander Stadium with a time of 22.19 seconds. This victory follows her 100m gold, making her the first British sprinter to achieve the 100m/200m double at a European Championships since Dina Asher-Smith in 2018. The 24-year-old has now reached the halfway point of her goal to win four gold medals at this competition.

Ireland's Rhasidat Adeleke took the silver medal, setting a new Irish national record with a time of 22.28 seconds. Asher-Smith finished third in 22.29 seconds, earning her ninth European medal. Hunt's winning time of 22.19 seconds, achieved with a wind reading of 0.7, stands as the fastest time in Europe this year.

In the men's 200m, Timothé Mumenthaler won gold in 20.05 seconds. The Swiss athlete's performance included a personal best of 20.09 seconds. Germany's Owen Ansah equalled the European lead with a personal best of 20.04 seconds in the third heat, while British athlete Ebuka Nwokeji finished sixth in his heat with a time of 20.83 seconds.

Germany's Gesa Krause won the women's 3000m steeplechase in 9:12.69, marking her third European title. She was followed by Alice Finot of France in 9:14.24 and Olivia Gürth of Germany in 9:15.33. Germany's Lea Meyer finished fourth in 9:17.07 after falling at the final water jump, while Great Britain's Elise Thorner finished fifth in 9:18.14.

Leo Neugebauer claimed his first European decathlon title with a total of 8611 points. He defeated teammate Niklas Kaul, who finished with 8573 points, by a margin of 38 points. Kaul narrowed the gap following a 73.54m javelin throw before the final 1500m event. Sander Skotheim of Norway took the bronze medal with 8433 points.
