World Athletics to livestream Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon

The Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon will be the first race in Uganda to be broadcast live on the World Athletics global digital platform. The fifth edition of the event is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Kasese.

World Athletics will send its digital team to Kasese to capture the race and its surroundings for a live stream on the official World Athletics YouTube channel. This move places the marathon on an international list of road races that receive global coverage, alongside the Valencia Marathon, Cape Town Marathon, TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, and TCS Sydney Marathon.

Amos Wekesa, the team lead for the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon, stated that the livestream recognizes the progress the event has achieved since it began. He noted that the broadcast will highlight the tourism appeal and beauty of the region, helping to place the area on a global scale.

Sandra Againe, the Tusker Lite Brand Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited, said the brand is proud to support the growth of the marathon as it becomes an internationally recognized event. She described the livestream as an important milestone in the journey of the race.

Organizers aim to host 8,000 participants for the 2026 edition. Runners from more than 20 countries have already registered for the competition.
