Asante Kotoko move closer to signing Ivorian winger Eric Gbetta
Asante Kotoko are preparing to complete a permanent deal for 21-year-old Ivorian winger Eric Gbetta before the 2026/27 season.
Asante Kotoko are close to completing the permanent signing of 21-year-old Ivorian attacker Eric Gbetta as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign. The winger has already joined the squad during the club’s pre-season work in Accra.
Gbetta arrives after gaining experience in Oman with Ibri Club and Al-Wahda SC. He spent part of the 2024/25 season at Ibri, competing in the Oman Professional League before moving on to his next club.
The attacker can play on either flank, giving head coach Eric Tinkler another option across the wide positions. His game is built around pace, dribbling and movement in the final third, while his set-piece ability also formed part of his contribution in Oman.
His most notable goal for Ibri came on May 3, 2025, against Bahla Club. Gbetta put his side ahead in the sixth minute, scoring directly from a corner in a rare dead-ball finish.
Gbetta was included among the foreign players selected for Kotoko’s 26-man squad for the pre-season tour of Accra. His presence with the group indicates that he has already begun settling into Tinkler’s plans before the new Ghana Premier League season begins.
Kotoko are strengthening their squad with the campaign approaching and will hope Gbetta can make an immediate contribution. The Porcupine Warriors are seeking to regain their place at the top of Ghanaian football, with the Ivorian expected to add width and attacking threat to the team.
