Bangladesh lead as Australia reach 161/4 on Day Four in Darwin

Australia ended the third day of the Test match at 161/4, trailing Bangladesh by 67 runs. The hosts have six wickets remaining to overcome the deficit and build a lead.

Hasan Mahmud provided the primary threat for the visitors with the new ball. Following a six-wicket haul in the first innings, the fast bowler dismissed both Australian openers in the second innings, removing Jake Weatherald for zero and Travis Head for 17.

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith worked to stabilize the innings with a partnership that included scores of 31 and 44 respectively. Taijul Islam ended the stand by dismissing Labuschagne, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the wicket of Smith.

Cameron Green and Alex Carey remained at the crease as Bangladesh continued to apply pressure through disciplined bowling. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh extended their advantage to over 200 runs, largely due to a 65-run contribution from Miraz.

Josh Hazlewood was the most effective bowler for Australia, finishing with figures of 6/89. He claimed the final wickets of the innings, including the dismissal of Miraz.

During the session, Hazlewood also reached a significant milestone by taking his 300th Test wicket. He becomes the ninth Australian player to achieve this feat, joining Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Pat Cummins.
