Barcelona target Pedro Porro to replace Jules Koundé

Barcelona have made an initial inquiry for Tottenham defender Pedro Porro as a potential replacement for Jules Koundé this summer.

Barcelona have identified Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro as a potential replacement for Jules Koundé. The Spanish club has made an initial inquiry regarding the 26-year-old right-back by contacting his agent to understand the conditions required for a transfer.

This move follows interest from Arsenal in Koundé, who can play as both a centre-back and a right-back. The Premier League winners are interested in the France international, though they have not yet made a formal move. Koundé recently returned to training and is expected to discuss his future and his role under Hansi Flick.

Barcelona's leadership is willing to sell Koundé if a suitable offer is received and the player agrees to leave. While Porro is a target, he is not currently a priority for the club because Eric García and Xavi Espart are also available in the right-back position.

Arsenal's interest in Koundé comes at a time when injuries to William Saliba and Jurriën Timber may necessitate defensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes. Mikel Arteta views the former Sevilla player as a suitable addition to his squad.

Despite Barcelona's interest, Tottenham are unlikely to agree to a sale of Porro. The player signed a contract extension in June that runs until 2031, with an additional option for another year, giving the North London club significant leverage in negotiations.
