Be Forward Wanderers beat Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 in Malawi Super League

Be Forward Wanderers defeated Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 in the Malawi Super League on Sunday. The result leaves Wanderers third with 23 points from 12 matches, while Kamuzu remain 14th on 11 points after 12 games.

The Nomads responded to their 1-1 draw with Moyale Barracks by securing their first win in their last three league matches. Their recent record before this game also included victories over CIVO United and MAFCO, alongside draws with Masters FC, Dedza Dynamos and Ekhaya.

Kamuzu entered the match after a mixed run. They had beaten MAFCO 4-1 and Blue Eagles 2-1, but then lost to Masters FC, Chitipa United and Nyasa Big Bullets. The defeat leaves them close to the bottom half of the table after 13 rounds.

Sama Thierry put Wanderers ahead before captain Emmanuel Nyirenda added the second goal. Both strikes came before the interval, giving the Nomads a 2-0 advantage at half-time at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Kamuzu pressed high and created opportunities, but they could not turn that pressure into a goal. Wanderers also had chances after the break, with neither side able to change the scoreline.

Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira credited his squad’s ability to rotate players and maintain their energy during a demanding campaign. He also said the team needed greater consistency if they were to stay in contention for honours. Kamuzu coach Kenwood Nkhoma accepted that his side had not carried out its planned approach effectively and said they would work to correct that while continuing their fight through the season.
