Ghana midfielder James Akaminko linked with Jordan’s Al-Khader

Ghana midfielder James Akaminko, 30, has attracted interest from Jordanian side Al-Khader. The central midfielder became unattached on 1 July 2026 after ending his spell with Tanzanian club Azam FC.

The possible move would take Akaminko back into club football following his departure from Azam. The interest was recorded on 16 August, although no transfer fee or contract details have been attached to the proposal.

Akaminko joined Azam in July 2022 after leaving Ghanaian club Great Olympics. His career has also included Medeama, Tema Youth and Ashanti Gold in Ghana, as well as a spell with Tunisia’s US Tataouine, whom he joined in October 2020.

He returned to Ghana with Great Olympics in February 2021 before moving to Azam. A switch to Al-Khader would be his first recorded transfer since he became unattached at the beginning of July.

The midfielder has played 87 matches in the Ghana Premier League, scoring three goals and registering four assists. He has also appeared in continental competition, featuring nine times in the CAF Confederation Cup and twice in the CAF Champions League.

Akaminko’s latest club affiliation remains Azam, where he spent four years after arriving from Great Olympics. His potential move to Al-Khader would continue a career that has taken him through clubs in Ghana, Tunisia and Tanzania.
