Hoima City Stadium to host both Kitara-Mogadishu City CAF ties

Hoima City Stadium will host both legs of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie between Uganda’s Kitara and Somalia’s Mogadishu City. The first match is scheduled for September 5, with the return fixture following on September 12, and both games will begin at 4pm.

Mogadishu City are designated as the home side for the opening leg, but the match will be played in Hoima because Somalia does not currently have a stadium approved by the Confederation of African Football for the competition. Kitara had already registered Hoima City Stadium as their home venue for this season’s continental campaign.

The arrangement means Kitara will not travel for either fixture, although the first game will formally be Mogadishu City’s home match. The team that scores more goals across the two legs will progress to the second preliminary round, where Egyptian club Al Ahly await the winner.

Mogadishu City’s recent form has been mixed. They have won two of their last five matches, drawn one and lost two, including a 4-1 defeat by Singida Fountain Gate and a 3-1 loss to Police. Their victories came against Police, by 2-0, and Al Ahli Wad Medani, by 2-1, while they drew 0-0 away to Simba.

The first leg is listed as Mogadishu City versus Kitara on September 5, with the second meeting set for the following Saturday. Kitara have also confirmed that tickets will be available from August 17 through online sales, their offices in Hoima town and Kinubi, and a mobile ticketing van.

Ordinary admission is priced at UGX 20,000, while VIP tickets cost UGX 50,000. The two matches will decide which club continues into the next stage of the Confederation Cup and earns the opportunity to face Al Ahly.
