Rines SS beat Nyakach Girls 3-1 in 2026 FEASSA Games girls football

Rines Secondary School recovered from a goal down to defeat Kenya’s Nyakach Girls 3-1 in Group A of the 2026 FEASSA Games. The victory at the Ujenzi playground in Morogoro was Rines’ second in as many matches, taking the Ugandan school to six points.

Nyakach Girls, the reigning champions, took the lead before Rines turned the match around. Patricia Nakato converted a penalty, while Dorcus Nantaba and Halimah Mupyanga also scored for the Ugandan side in a physically demanding contest.

The result gives Rines a perfect record after two Group A fixtures. They opened their campaign with a win and followed it with another victory over the Kenyan champions, establishing a strong points return at the early stage of the competition.

Rines will return to action on Monday morning against Tanzania’s Fountain Gate. Another Group A fixture on the same day will see Uganda’s Amus College face Alliance. The next round of matches will provide the teams with another opportunity to strengthen their positions in the group.

Elsewhere in Group B, Uganda’s Boni Consili Vocational and Secondary School claimed its first win by beating Tanzania’s Kilombero Secondary School 3-0 at the Highlands sports complex. Biba Nenchamba, Peace Muduwa and Rinah Ariho, from the penalty spot, scored for Boni Consili.

Boni Consili had started the competition with a 1-0 defeat by Amus College School at Jamuhuri Stadium. Amus later drew 0-0 with Kenya’s St Joseph’s Girls Kitale at the same venue. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 16 August 2026, at Jamuhuri Stadium, with Tanzania’s Prime Minister Lameck Mwigulu Nchemba expected to attend as chief guest.
