Ben Foster criticises Arsenal decision to sell Leandro Trossard

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has voiced his disapproval of Arsenal's decision to sell Leandro Trossard this summer. The veteran forward has moved to the Turkish club Besiktas for a fee of £17 million.

Foster expressed confusion over the departure of the Belgian international, describing him as a significant and influential figure within the Arsenal squad. The goalkeeper stated that he does not like the sale and found the decision difficult to believe.

Trossard was a key component of the Arsenal side that secured the Premier League title last season, marking the club's first league championship since the 2004 Invincibles era. During that title-winning campaign, the 31-year-old appeared in 31 league fixtures, making 21 starts. He contributed six goals and provided six assists during those matches.

The player joined the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. Since his arrival in London, he finished as a league runner-up in three consecutive seasons before finally winning the title. Trossard leaves the Emirates with a total of 36 goals and 34 assists across 174 competitive appearances.

With only one year left on his contract at the time of the transfer, the forward now begins a new chapter in Turkey. The sale comes alongside the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes at the club.
