Boboye demands more from Edo Queens after 7-0 WAFU-B victory

Edo Queens began their Group B campaign at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament with a 7-0 victory over AS GNN of Niger in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Coach Kennedy Boboye praised the Nigerian champions’ execution but said the margin should have been larger.

Chioma Moses led the scoring with three goals, while Atume Doosuur added two. Aminat Folorunsho and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi also found the net as Edo Queens produced seven unanswered goals in their first match of the competition.

Boboye said the players carried out the plan set by the technical team, giving them credit for their disciplined performance. He was nevertheless dissatisfied with the number of chances that went unused, pointing to finishing as the main area requiring attention.

The coach said Edo Queens had been scoring freely during their preparations, making the missed opportunities against AS GNN especially notable despite the emphatic result. He also disclosed that the team had little advance knowledge of their opponents and had to adapt once the match began.

The win gives Edo Queens a strong start in Group B and supports their bid for another WAFU-B title and a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League. Boboye has already turned his focus to the remaining group fixtures, which he considers more demanding than the opener.

He stressed that the victory was now complete and that the team must prepare for the next match. Edo Queens will work on taking more of their chances as they seek maximum points from their remaining two group games.
