Calabar Rovers set to appoint Tosan Blankson as NLO technical adviser

Calabar Rovers are set to appoint Tosan Blankson as their new technical adviser in the Nationwide League One. The club will be looking to secure promotion to the Nigeria National League next season under his leadership.

Blankson’s most recent managerial role was with Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League. His coaching record also includes a league title with Delta Queens, who won the NWFL championship in 2022.

The proposed appointment gives Calabar Rovers a coach with experience in both the women’s top-flight game and the wider Nigerian football system. Blankson’s previous work at Rivers Angels followed his earlier involvement with Warri Wolves.

He worked as an assistant coach at Warri Wolves in 2016, adding experience from the men’s game to his background. The role at Calabar Rovers would therefore represent another opportunity to work in the NLO and pursue a promotion objective.

Blankson also holds a CAF B coaching licence, issued in 2017. That qualification forms part of the credentials he would bring to the Calabar club if the planned appointment is completed.

Calabar Rovers’ immediate target is a move up from the NLO to the Nigeria National League next season. Blankson would be tasked with helping the team achieve that aim, drawing on his title-winning spell with Delta Queens and his previous coaching assignments.
