Christantus Uche has successful knee surgery after Getafe injury

Getafe and Nigeria centre-forward Christantus Uche has undergone successful knee surgery in Lyon and will now begin rehabilitation.

Getafe centre-forward Christantus Uche has undergone successful surgery after suffering a knee injury in pre-season. The Nigeria international was injured during Getafe’s friendly against AS Monaco on August 6.

The operation was carried out in Lyon, France, under the supervision of Getafe’s medical and physiotherapy departments. The procedure was completed as planned, allowing Uche to move into the next stage of his recovery.

Uche will now begin rehabilitation with support from Getafe. The club is providing the resources and guidance required as the 23-year-old works towards regaining full fitness.

The injury is expected to keep Uche out for the entire 2026/27 season. No return date has been given beyond that projection, leaving the forward facing a lengthy period away from competitive football.

Uche joined Getafe from AD Ceuta during the 2024/25 season and spent the following campaign on loan at Premier League side Crystal Palace. His transfer history also includes a return move between Crystal Palace and Getafe in the 2025/26 season.

The Nigerian remains a Getafe player, with his market value listed at €12 million at Crystal Palace. His immediate focus is rehabilitation after the knee problem sustained against Monaco.
