Chuba Akpom targets Nigeria debut after Ipswich Town move

Chuba Akpom believes his opportunity to represent the Nigerian senior national team remains a possibility. The 30-year-old striker is targeting a Super Eagles debut following his permanent move to Ipswich Town from Ajax this summer.

Akpom, a former youth international for England, committed his international allegiance to Nigeria four years ago. He has yet to earn a senior cap for the nation, a delay attributed to career instability and inconsistent form.

His representative stated that the striker is available for selection by Nigeria. However, the representative noted that Akpom must first reach his peak performance levels with his club in the English Premier League. There is an expectation that a call-up could occur before the next Africa Cup of Nations.

The striker, who developed within the Arsenal academy, is not currently setting specific goal targets for the upcoming season. His representative indicated that there is no pressure on the player, noting that his experience allows him to focus on individual matches. The primary objective for the forward is to deliver a strong season for his new club.

Akpom's move to the newly promoted Ipswich Town follows his departure from the Dutch side Ajax. He remains focused on establishing himself in the Premier League as a prerequisite for his international ambitions.
