Coach Anyasi outlines Authority FA vision after FEMMCO 2026 run
Authority FA coach Anyasi Godwin wants his Ifo players to reach bigger academies after an unbeaten U-10 run ended in the FEMMCO 2026 final.
Authority FA coach Anyasi Godwin wants his young players to move from grassroots football in Ifo to stronger academies and clubs within the next one or two years. His plans follow the team’s run at the FEMMCO Football Championship 2026, where the side reached the U-10 final.
The team, previously known as Apakose, went unbeaten through the competition before losing narrowly to Disciple FA in the deciding match. Anyasi viewed the campaign as valuable for the players, despite the missed opportunity to win the championship.
Disciple FA’s greater tactical maturity proved decisive in the final, with Authority FA struggling to find a way through their defensive structure. Anyasi believes the experience will help his players improve and perform better in future competitions.
His wider ambition is to see members of the squad earn opportunities outside Ifo with established teams such as Beyond Limits and Sporting Lagos. He wants them to continue developing while playing in environments that can provide a higher level of competition and exposure.
The change from Apakose to Authority FA is part of that new direction. Anyasi said the name reflects his identity and the brand he is building around the team as it seeks to become a pathway for young footballers in the area.
His work was also recognised at the championship when he received the Best Coach award in the U-10 category. Anyasi expressed gratitude for the honour and credited grassroots coaches Oluwafemi Adebayo Oladehinde of Femmco FA and Onaolapo Micheal of Fortune FA as mentors whose methods influence his coaching.
