Dave Allen loses interest in Joshua vs Fury 2026 fight

Dave Allen has stated he no longer cares about a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The former heavyweight expressed that the long-awaited matchup has lost its sporting significance because it should have taken place several years ago.

Allen noted that the discussion surrounding the bout has become exhausting. He suggested that while he might feel excitement once the two men actually enter the ring, the years of talk have diminished his interest. He believes the contest should have been settled six or seven years ago when both fighters were closer to their peak.

Recent performances have also influenced Allen's lack of enthusiasm. He pointed out that Joshua was dropped twice during his most recent outing, while Fury's latest performance failed to impress him. Allen indicated he would prefer to watch a contest between Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley instead.

While Allen acknowledges the impact Joshua has had on filling British stadiums, he feels the era of these two former champions has passed. He no longer views a 2026 meeting as a way to determine who is Britain's premier heavyweight.

Instead, Allen is focusing his attention on other heavyweights currently pursuing major opportunities. He named Moses Itauma, Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, and Agit Kabayel as fighters he finds more compelling at this stage. For Allen, the delay has turned a fight that once promised to settle a major argument into a late-career meeting that lacks its original weight.
