Denis Donkor returns to Rot-Weiss Oberhausen for new season

Ghanaian winger Denis Donkor is back at Rot-Weiss Oberhausen after a season with TSG Hoffenheim II in Germany’s third tier.

Ghanaian forward Denis Donkor is returning to Rot-Weiss Oberhausen, rejoining the German club after a season with TSG Hoffenheim II. The right winger previously spent three seasons at Oberhausen and will now begin another spell with the side.

Donkor first established himself at Stadion Niederrhein, becoming an important part of Oberhausen’s attacking play and earning a strong connection with the club’s supporters. His return gives the team a player who already understands its environment and expectations.

The 2025/26 campaign took Donkor to Hoffenheim II, where he gained experience in Germany’s third tier. That season has added another level to his development before his move back to the club where he had built his reputation.

Oberhausen’s decision to bring him back is also based on continuity. Donkor is familiar with the coaching staff, many of the players and the team’s style of play, which should reduce the adjustment required when he returns to training and competition.

The winger has welcomed the move and is looking forward to playing again at the stadium in front of Oberhausen’s supporters. He also emphasised his knowledge of the club’s professional working standards and his determination to contribute to its targets.

His return adds attacking experience and a familiar presence to the Oberhausen squad. After a season away, Donkor will now have the opportunity to resume the role he held during his previous spell and help the club push forward in the new campaign.
