Richards BayDurban City rally to 1-1 draw with Richards Bay in South African PSL
Durban City recovered from an early N. Xulu goal to draw 1-1 with Richards Bay, while AmaZulu defeated Siwelele FC in the PSL.
Durban City came from behind to draw 1-1 with Richards Bay in the South African Premier Soccer League on 15 August 2026. N. Xulu put Richards Bay ahead in the ninth minute before T. Sikhakhane levelled for Durban City after 70 minutes.
The result came in the third round and extended a closely matched start for both sides. Richards Bay entered the fixture 12th in the table with one point from two matches, while Durban City were 13th, also on one point from two games. The draw left the teams separated only by their existing positions.
Durban City controlled more of the ball, holding 62 per cent possession and completing 340 successful passes to Richards Bay’s 196. They also had the stronger overall attacking volume, recording nine shots off target to two and winning nine corners compared with four.
Richards Bay remained competitive in the key finishing figures. Both teams registered five shots on target, while the visitors created the only big chance recorded in the match. Their goalkeeper made five saves, one more than Durban City’s goalkeeper.
The match also reflected Richards Bay’s greater use of one-on-one play, with 19 successful dribbles against Durban City’s four. Durban City committed 10 fouls and Richards Bay 14, but neither side received a yellow or red card. The teams were caught offside twice and four times respectively.
The point maintained the pattern in both clubs’ recent form. Durban City’s listed results included four draws and one defeat, while Richards Bay had also recorded four draws alongside one loss. AmaZulu also defeated Siwelele FC in the same round.
