Durosinmi scores as Genk beat Westerlo 3-2 in Belgian Pro League

Rafiu Durosinmi scored for the second straight game as Genk recovered from two goals down to defeat Westerlo 3-2 in the Belgian Pro League.

Genk defeated Westerlo 3-2 in the Belgian Pro League after recovering from a two-goal deficit. Rafiu Durosinmi scored Genk’s first goal, continuing his run of finding the net in consecutive games.

Westerlo made the stronger start and moved ahead after seven minutes through Dylan Ourega. Genk’s position worsened four minutes later when defender Matte Smets turned the ball into his own net, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

Durosinmi began Genk’s recovery from the penalty spot with three minutes remaining before half-time. The goal reduced the gap and gave the home side a route back into the contest after Westerlo’s quick opening.

Genk completed the comeback before the interval. Bryan Heynen scored in the 43rd minute to make it 2-2, leaving the teams level after a first half that produced five goals and a major change in momentum.

The decisive moment came 11 minutes before full-time, when Bibout scored Genk’s third goal. That strike completed the turnaround and secured the victory for the home side.

The result ended a difficult run in Genk’s recent form. Before this match, the team had followed wins over FC Twente and FC OSS with three straight defeats: 4-0 away to Bayer Leverkusen, 4-0 at AZ Alkmaar and 1-0 at Falkirk. The victory over Westerlo therefore stopped that losing sequence, while Durosinmi’s scoring contribution added to his recent form.
