KCB edge Kabras Sugar 12-7 in thrilling Kabeberi 7s 2026 finish

KCB Rugby beat Kabras Sugar 12-7 in the final match of the opening day at the Kabeberi 7s, extending their dominance over the sugar millers. Kabras led 7-5 at half-time, but KCB recovered to settle the Pool D contest at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday evening.

Jone Kubu scored Kabras’ try before Eric Cantona added the conversion, giving the side the advantage at the interval. KCB’s reply came through George “Japolo” Ooro, who later crossed again in the second half to put the bankers in front and secure the win.

The result gave Andrew Amonde’s KCB maximum points in Pool D. The bankers had already defeated Masinde Muliro University earlier in the day, while Kabras had beaten Nakuru RFC, meaning both teams had qualified for the main cup quarter-finals before their meeting.

KCB’s victory capped a strong first day in which several sides completed unbeaten pool campaigns. Kenya Harlequin finished top of Pool A after defeating Daystar University Falcons 19-7, with Brighton Omondi scoring twice and David Mwangi adding another try.

Strathmore University Leos claimed Pool B’s top position by beating hosts Mwamba RFC 29-12. Victor Mola scored three tries, while Menengai Oilers ended Pool C with a perfect record after overcoming Zetech Oaks 38-14. Kenyatta University Blak Blad also reached the quarter-finals with a 19-5 win over Mombasa Rugby.
