Durban City sign former Bafana Bafana midfielder Ethan Brooks
Durban City have bolstered their squad for the 2026/27 season and CAF Confederation Cup with the signings of Ethan Brooks and Alou Doumbia.
Durban City have officially completed the signings of midfielder Ethan Brooks and Malian left-back Alou Doumbia. The club confirmed the arrivals on Saturday as part of their efforts to strengthen the roster for the 2026/27 season.
Brooks, 24, returns to the South African domestic league after a single season playing in Europe. He spent the 2025/26 campaign with the Greek Super League outfit Panserraikos FC. Following the relegation of the Greek side to the Super League Greece 2, the midfielder became available for transfer.
The former TS Galaxy and AmaZulu player brings international experience to the Citizens. During his time with the Bafana Bafana national team, Brooks made 11 appearances. He was included in the early group of players selected by Hugo Broos, with his final international appearance occurring in March 2022 during a 0-0 draw against Guinea.
In addition to the midfield reinforcement, the club has added Alou Doumbia to the defensive line. The acquisition of the Malian left-back is intended to provide depth as the club prepares for its upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Durban City stated that both new players have already arrived at the team camp. Brooks and Doumbia have integrated with their new teammates and have officially started training with the squad.
The club noted that these signings are part of a continuous process to build a competitive squad for the upcoming football calendar. The move aims to ensure the team is prepared for both domestic duties and continental competition.
