Eric Tinkler adds former Cape Town City coach Diogo Peral at Kotoko

Former Cape Town City coach Diogo Peral has joined Eric Tinkler at Asante Kotoko in Ghana, taking up a technical adviser role with the Ghanaian club.

The appointment reunites Peral with Tinkler, who previously worked with him at Cape Town City. The pair will now form part of Kotoko’s effort to restore the club to its former level under technical director Stanley Menzo.

Peral spent much of his coaching career at Cape Town City. He led the club’s reserve side in the DStv Diski Challenge before moving into the senior team setup as an assistant to Jan Olde Riekerink, Tinkler and Muhsin Ertugral.

The 50-year-old also had two temporary spells in charge of the first team. He took over as caretaker in May 2021 while Riekerink was placed on administrative leave.

Peral was later appointed Cape Town City’s first-team coach in March 2025 on a contract running until the end of that season. Lebogang Manyama and Roger De Sa served as his assistants during that period.

His move to Kotoko adds South African coaching experience to a club led on the technical side by Menzo, the former Ajax Cape Town coach. Peral will work alongside Tinkler as the Ghanaian giants seek to bring back their successful years.
