Ethiopia Coffee have confirmed Danlad Ibrahim’s departure after two seasons, with the Ghana goalkeeper returning to Asante Kotoko on a two-year deal.
Ethiopia Coffee have confirmed the departure of Ghana goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, who is returning to Asante Kotoko after two seasons with the Ethiopian Premier League club. The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors, with an additional one-year extension option included in the agreement.
Danlad was a regular presence for Ethiopia Coffee during the 2024/25 campaign and established himself among the league’s leading goalkeepers. His performances also marked a strong period of development after he moved away from his former club in Ghana.
He started all 33 of Ethiopia Coffee’s league matches last season, allowing 16 goals and recording 21 clean sheets. That gave him a clean-sheet rate of 63 per cent and helped the club post one of the Ethiopian Premier League’s strongest defensive records.
His displays brought individual recognition during the campaign. Danlad won the Ethiopian Premier League Goalkeeper of the Month award for April 2025 and also collected Man of the Match honours in important victories. Penalty saves were among the contributions that strengthened his reputation at the club.
Ethiopia Coffee have thanked Danlad for his work and professionalism during his time in the Ethiopian capital. The club also highlighted the importance of his performances before wishing him success as he begins the next stage of his career in Kumasi.
Danlad had already been training with Kotoko during pre-season while the final details of the move were settled. His return gives the club a goalkeeper with recent experience of a full league campaign and strong statistical form as Kotoko prepare for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
