Falconets arrive in Poland ahead of FIFA Women's U20 World Cup

Nigeria’s Falconets have settled at Hotel Trzebnica in Trzebnica ahead of the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup in Poland. The team arrived on Tuesday and will use the countryside hotel as a temporary base before moving to the accommodation assigned by FIFA.

The squad will remain at Hotel Trzebnica until Thursday, 3 September. It will then transfer to the official FIFA hotel, with the intervening period dedicated to further tactical and technical work and adjustment to conditions in Poland.

Coach Moses Aduku’s team completed its final preparations in Abuja, focusing on fitness, tactical discipline, teamwork and mental readiness. Aduku believes the players are physically and mentally prepared for the tournament and will approach the competition with the ambition of challenging for the title.

Nigeria will face Spain on 7 September, China on 10 September and New Caledonia on 13 September in Group F. The Falconets are seeking a first championship in the competition after finishing as runners-up in 2010 and 2014.

A 21-player squad will represent Nigeria in Poland. The group includes Christiana Uzoma, Jane Ijirigho, Ramotalahi Kareem, Queen Joseph, Favour Nkwocha, Rebecca Adegbemile, Joy Igbokwe, Faridat Abdulwahab, Precious Oscar, Tumininu Adeshina and Bright Etim.

Onyedikachi Ekezie, Victory Lucky, Mary Mamudu, Hannah Ibrahm, Tosin Rafiu, Janet Akekoromowei, Amber Ogbolu, Winner David, Chisom Nwachukwu and Jumai Adebayo complete the squad. Nigeria is the only African country to have appeared at every edition of the tournament, which began as an Under-19 competition in Canada 24 years ago.
