Fans reject €150m fee after Galatasaray's 4-0 win over Erzurumspor

Supporters have criticised Ugur Meleke for valuing Victor Osimhen at €150m after his brace in Galatasaray’s 4-0 win over Erzurumspor.

Galatasaray defeated Erzurumspor 4-0, with Victor Osimhen scoring twice in the result. The Nigerian striker’s display was followed by a furious reaction to Turkish pundit Ugur Meleke’s €150 million valuation of him.

Meleke described Osimhen as one of the five best active centre-forwards in world football and praised the hunger he continues to show. His proposed fee, however, drew criticism from supporters who believe it does not reflect the 27-year-old’s value.

Some fans argued that clubs now pay between €80 million and €100 million for less accomplished players simply because they play in Europe. From that perspective, they considered €150 million an undervaluation rather than an exceptional price for Osimhen.

Other supporters also questioned the money Napoli received when Osimhen left the Italian club, saying that deal already looked too low in comparison with his performances. One view shared among Galatasaray fans was that accepting less than €200 million would leave the club short of his true worth.

The striker’s latest brace added to a run of performances that has strengthened his standing in Istanbul. His pressing of goalkeepers, work against defenders and consecutive two-goal displays have made him increasingly valuable to the supporters, while the win over Erzurumspor also moved him to third among Galatasaray’s highest-scoring foreign players.

The reaction went beyond serious financial comparisons, with one supporter putting Osimhen’s net value at €690 million. Others dismissed the prospect of his departure altogether, arguing that he should remain at Galatasaray for years and only consider leaving when he reaches 37.
